Mayurbhanj, Jun 18: A youth and a young woman, who had fallen in love, allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves.

The shocking incident has emerged from Pokharia village, under Badjharan Gram Panchayat in the Rairangpur rural police jurisdiction.

The deceased, identified as Sadanand Nayak (19) and Manisha Nayak (16), were found hanging in their respective homes.

While Sadanand was legally an adult, Manisha was still a minor, adding further complexity to the situation.

On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.

Investigators suspect that the couple resorted to this extreme step after their families disapproved of their relationship.

The police are reportedly continuing their probe to determine the factors leading up to this unfortunate event.
