Chairman Pabitra Bhutia stated that neglect and lack of development under the BJD had compelled local leaders to switch the saffron party. He remarked that the BJP’s double-engine government has consistently delivered developmental projects, inspiring him and others to join.

Bhutia credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and State President Manmohan Samal for their developmental initiatives that motivated the shift.

Strengthening BJP in Angul and Talcher

With Talcher and Angul being central regions of Odisha, the entry of Bhutia and his supporters is expected to significantly strengthen BJP’s grassroots presence. The list of new entrants includes Councillors from wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, and 20, along with former Councillors, Sarpanchs, social activists, lawyers, and youth leaders. Their collective move signals a growing wave of support for BJP in the region.

Pradhan Welcomes New Members

Senior BJP leader and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan welcomed Talcher Municipality Chairman Pabitra Bhutia, several ward Councillors, and supporters from Angul into the BJP. He also expressed gratitude for their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Majhi’s leadership, noting that their induction would further strengthen the party’s organizational base in Odisha.

BJP’s Developmental Narrative

During the ceremony, BJP leaders reiterated that the party is committed to accelerating developmental work in Odisha, addressing fundamental issues in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. They stressed that the BJP has already fulfilled most promises made in its manifesto since forming the government in the state 17 months ago.

The double-engine model, they said, is driving Odisha toward holistic growth and preparing the state for future milestones, including Odisha’s centenary in 2036 and India’s centenary of independence in 2047.
