Bargarh, Jul 10: A sudden spike in diarrhoea cases has been reported in Hirlipali village under Atabira block, beginning Tuesday night. The outbreak is suspected to be linked to contaminated water sources, prompting swift action from local health authorities.
According to reports, over 60 individuals, ranging from children to the elderly, have been affected by the outbreak. While 5 patients are reportedly in critical condition and been referred to Burla VIMSAR hospital, two patients have recovered and returned home, while 3 remain under treatment.
Amid the surge in cases, Group Health Centre officials, under the direction of Dr. Rabinarayan Mishra, have set up a temporary medical camp in the village.
A dedicated team of doctors is treating affected residents, while health workers are conducting door-to-door screenings and distributing preventive vaccines.
Authorities are urging villagers to boil drinking water, avoid open sources, and maintain hygiene. Surveillance and water testing are underway to prevent further spread.
