Such a shocking case has come to light when an infant was hospitalised in critical condition in Nabarangpur district. The doctors were in shock when they saw the condition of the infant, reportedly a one-month old baby boy.
As per the report, the infant has more than 40 scars on his body, which he had got from a superstitious healing practice. He was branded with hot metal in a bid to cure his serious illness.
The shocking incident took place in Phundelpara village under Chandahandi block of the district. As per the report, the infant, son of Saroj Kumar Nayak, fell seriously ill 10 days after his birth and he was crying consistently.
The family decided to follow superstitious healing practice instead of seeking medical help. The infant was branded with hot metal more than 40 times leaving scars all over his body. The infant’s condition turned worse and he was later admitted to Umerkote Hospital for treatment.
