Sundargarh, Apr 10: In a shameful act, a youth reportedly kidnapped his girlfriend from her house in Sundargarh district to his village in Keonjhar, raped her for two days, and then killed her and dumped her body in a jungle.  

According to the information, the youth took the girl from Indupur village under Koida police station in Sundargarh district to his village Sayabali under Barbail police station limits in Keonjhar district on April 5. He kept the girl in captivity for two days and raped her many times. Her body was found lying in a jungle near Sayabali on April 7.  

Some locals saw the body yesterday. On being informed by them, the Badabil police recovered the body and initiated efforts to ascertain her identity. 

Later, the family members of the girl identified the body and filed a complaint wih the police, alleging that their daughter was kidnapped, raped and murdered. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused.  

Acting on the complaint, the Barbail police have detained the accused and are interrogating him. The police suspect more people might be involved in the gruesome act. 

The incident shocked the people of the locality.
