Sundargarh: 20 Persons Injured As OSRTC Bus Hits Electric Pole On SH 10

Sundargarh, Feb 22: An OSRTC (Odisha State Road Transport Corporation) bus met with an accident late Friday night on State Highway 10 (SH 10) leaving at least 20 persons injured.
The Puri-bound OSRTC bus departed from Sundargarh carrying reportedly more than 50 passengers. However, tragedy struck when the bus driver lost control and it hit an electric pole before falling into a roadside gorge.
The accident took place near Muchurinali village at around 12.30 am. As per the report, the bus hit the 33 KV electric pole and fell into the roadside gorge.
At least 20 passengers sustained injuries, with a woman sustaining critical injuries. The report also says that the woman passenger was electrocuted sustaining burn injuries on her thigh and neck.
After being informed, police reached the spot and seized the bus. They rescued the passengers and shifted the injured persons to Bonai Sub-Divisional Hospital. The passenger, carrying critical injuries, was later shifted to Rourkela.
A different bus was arranged for the survivors to continue their journey to their respective destinations.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter and, as of now, there is no information about the driver.
