Bhubaneswar, Mar 16: The Odisha Government is planning to establish subsidised ‘Poshan Kendras’ – Nutrition Centres – across the state to provide ration at affordable rates, revealed the Food Suppliers Minister Krushna Chandra Patra.
He said that these centres will follow the models of Delhi and Gujarat, with a pilot project starting in 35 locations.
The initiative aims to benefit the middle-class population, with both central and state governments offering subsidies. Beneficiaries will receive independent cards for accessing these services.
The Odisha Food Suppliers Minister said that a team will soon visit Delhi and Gujarat to study the functioning of existing centres there.
“The long-term goal is to open such centres in every panchayat. Once the Chief Minister approves, the government will finalise the decision swiftly,” said Krushna Chandra Patra, adding that it's a promising step toward ensuring food security and support for the community.
