Balasore, Jul 10: The flood situation in northern Odisha remains critical as the Subarnarekha River is nearing the warning mark at Rajghat in Jaleswar, triggering concern among locals and authorities alike.
According to reports, the warning level at Rajghat is 9.45 metres while the danger level is 10.36 metres. At 8:00 AM today, the river’s water level reached 9.98 metres, marking the third flood occurrence along Subarnarekha this monsoon season.
Earlier in the morning, the river swelled to 10.05 metres, its highest point this season, before showing slight signs of recession.
Following this, disaster management teams have been placed on standby, and local administrations have been advised to prepare contingency plans in case water levels continue to rise.
On the other hand, residents near vulnerable areas are being urged to stay alert and follow official advisories.
