Balasore, Jul 4: As the waters of the Subarnarekha River slowly started receding, a sigh of relief has begun to emerge across flood-ravaged parts of Balasore district. However, hundreds of families are still grappling with the aftermath.

Villages that were submerged under swirling floodwaters just days ago now lie littered with mud, debris, and ruined crops. Many residents have begun to return to their homes, only to find belongings damaged, livestock lost, and farmland devastated.

The Bhograi and Baliapal blocks remain among the worst affected, with extensive damage to agriculture being reported.

On Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida visited the affected regions and interacted with the locals. During this, the Deputy CM assured that the state government would ensure sustained relief, rehabilitation, and long-term flood management solutions.

Moreover, senior officials have been instructed to assess agricultural losses and distribute aid accordingly. Cooked meals and rice are being provided in affected villages for at least seven more days, ensuring that displaced families have access to essential nourishment as they rebuild their lives.
