Subarnapur, Oct 20: A man and his wife were fatally stabbed by his uncle allegedly over a farmland dispute at Chingerkata village under Dunguripali police limits in Odisha’s Subarnapur district last evening, family sources said on Monday.
According to the sources, Kishore Khanda and his uncle
engaged in a heated argument over farmland ownership, which soon turned
physical.
Sources said the accused uncle, in a fit of rage, attacked Kishore
and his wife Bhama with a knife. Kishore, who had been cultivating the disputed
land, claimed the assault was sudden and unprovoked. He sustained deep injuries
to his abdomen, hands, head, and legs, while Bhama suffered serious wounds to
her shoulder and head.

Family members rushed the couple to Dunguripali Community
Health Centre, where doctors referred them to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute
of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla due to the severity of their
condition.
On being informed, local Police reached the village and launched
an investigation into the incident.
