The incident began when a female student reportedly discovered a cockroach in her plate. Soon, similar complaints emerged from other students, intensifying anger and leading to a large‑scale agitation.

Videos of the unrest, showing broken furniture and heated arguments, were said to have surfaced during the protest. To control the situation, police forces were deployed on campus.

Despite police presence, the agitation did not subside immediately. Students continued to question the quality of food and accused the administration of negligence.

The tension escalated as students refused to disperse, insisting on immediate corrective measures. Jatani police officials, including the local IIC, reached the spot to monitor law and order.

In a surprising turn, one of the university officials reportedly ate the same food that had triggered the controversy. This gesture helped calm tempers, and the protest gradually subsided.

Authorities have assured that the complaints will be investigated and necessary steps taken to improve hostel food standards.

For now, the spotlight remains on whether the administration will act swiftly to restore trust among students.
