Bhubaneswar, Jan 23: Bhubaneswar witnessed another violent incident on Friday as a group clash broke out allegedly over past enmity, leaving one youth critically injured.

According to a source, tensions escalated between two groups from the Damana and Housing Board areas under Chandrasekharpur police station limits. The clash turned violent on a busy road, where a youth was allegedly chased and assaulted by members of the rival group in full public view.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers ran after the youth and assaulted him repeatedly in the middle of the road. He sustained multiple injuries during the attack. The incident caused panic in the area for a brief period as commuters and local residents gathered at the spot.

The injured youth was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he was admitted in a critical condition. Doctors are monitoring his condition, the source added.

Following the incident, Chandrasekharpur police reached the spot and began an investigation. One person has been detained in connection with the incident, and further inquiry is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and identify others involved in the assault.

The incident has once again raised concerns over street violence in Bhubaneswar.
