Bhubaneswar, Apr 9: A state-level woman athlete was found hanging in a rented house near Harihar Vidyapith in BJB Nagar area here in Odisha under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday.

The deceased athlete has been identified as Sarojini Sundara, a resident of Jagdalpur village under Delang police limits in Puri district.

According to sources, Sarojini, a state-level boxing and kho-kho player, was found hanging in the rented accommodation this morning. She had been residing in Bhubaneswar for the last few years and working at a bike showroom on Cuttack Road in the city.

After getting information, Bargarh Police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it to Capital Hospital here for autopsy.

The actual cause of death will be ascertained after the arrival of the postmortem report; further investigation is underway, police said.
