Bhubaneswar, Dec 26: Like earlier years, the State BJP celebrated the 99th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee as 'Susasan Divas' (Good Governance Day) here today. 

Party leaders garlanded the statue of Vajpayee at AIIMS Hospital and his photo at the party's State head office here. BJP state president Manmohan Samal presided over the meeting. 

Samal remembered Vajpayee's statesmanship and his contributions to empowering the country with nuclear bombs. He also narrated how the country won the Kargil war under Vajpayee's able leadership. 

Niranjan Padhee, who graced the occasion as chief speaker, said Vajpayee was a great visionary, a statesman, an eminent poet, a journalist, and an expert orator. He highlighted the multi-faceted personality of Bharat Ratna Vajpayee.  

Gracing as another speaker, former administrative officer Sudarshan Nayak discussed in detail the eight points of good governance adopted by Vajpayee during his prime ministership. 

Over a hundred of Vajpayee lovers joined the celebration. Senior leader Sajjan Sharma proposed a vote of thanks.
