Puri, July 29: A young man was detained for allegedly attempting to record footage inside the revered Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri using a hidden camera concealed within his eyeglasses. Security personnel apprehended him at the Lion’s Gate (Singhadwara) after detecting suspicious behavior.

Initial investigations suggest the camera may have been used to capture restricted photos and videos of the temple's interior, an act strictly prohibited by temple regulations.

The Singhadwara police station has launched a formal inquiry into the matter, and officials are currently interrogating the youth to determine the extent of the breach.

Early reports indicate he is a resident of Puri. The incident has prompted concerns about security lapses at one of the country’s most sacred pilgrimage sites, with authorities reviewing surveillance measures to prevent future violations.
