Balasore, Apr 4: The officials of Forest Department Friday recovered the carcass of a spotted deer near Hanuman Temple in Gangutia village under Khaira police limits in Balasore district.

According to reports, the matter came to fore after locals spotted the animal in a lifeless state near the temple premises and alerted the same to the forest officials.

Following this, the Forest Department officials rushed to the spot and seized the carcass of the deer.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the animal may have ventured from the nearby Sarisua hills near Kupari in search of food. However, the cause of the death remains unclear.

Officials have procured the carcass and are investigating the case.
