Bhubaneswar, Feb 10: To find out and groom sports talents in rural Odisha, the State government has decided to sports infrastructure in each of 314 blocks.

The State Cabinet has approved a proposal for the investment of Rs 4,124 crore for the construction of stadiums in all blocks, Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj said on Monday.

"There will be all required facilities in the block-level stadiums. Outdoor games, including football, cricket, Kho Kho and Volley Ball and all indoor games will be played. Local sports and cultural activities will be promoted," said the Minister.

The Minister also said a minimum of three trainers (coaches) will be employed at each sports centre to provide proper training and guidance. He said an ecosystem will be created for the game.

A standard operating procedure (SOP) will be issued for public use of the sports complex to be built in each block.

There will be all sports disciplines in 248 blocks. At present, there are indoor halls in 66 blocks, while other arrangements will be made. A minimum of 8.5 acres of land will be taken for the sports complex at the block level.
