Khorda, Jan 20: In a tragic incident, a minor boy was killed and her mother sustained critical injuries in an elephant at Mahatapakka village under the Khordha Sadar police station limits early Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Satyaranjan Martha and the injured as Sulochana Martha. According to the information, the mother and son were attacked by an elephant when they went to attend the call of nature on a field this morning.
Hearing a crying sound, villagers rushed to the spot and saw the two bleeding profusely.

✨They soon took them to a hospital where doctors declared the boy brought dead. Sulochana Martha has been referred to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for further treatment given her critical condition.
Forest department officials have reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
