Jharsuguda, May 13: In a deeply saddening event, a soldier’s wife, who had been battling a critical health condition after childbirth, on Tuesday breathed her last in the hospital.

Lipi Gand, wife of Devraj Gand from Tengnamal village in Lakhanpur block, Jharsuguda district, gave birth to a baby girl on the 28th of April. Her husband, a member of the Armed Border Force, was with her at the time of delivery. However, due to serious complications, Lipi was admitted to the intensive care unit at VIMSAR Hospital in Burla.

Soon after, Devraj received an urgent call from his unit requiring him to report to duty at the border. Leaving behind his unconscious wife and their newborn daughter, he fulfilled his duty. Tragically, Lipi succumbed to her illness before Devraj could return home, leaving the family devastated.

The heartbreaking news has sent waves of sorrow throughout the region, with friends and neighbors mourning the loss of a young mother who fought for survival while her husband remained committed to his duty.
