Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: Six police personnel from Odisha will receive the 'Medal for Gallantry' honour on the occasion of 76th Republic Day, Sunday.

From Odisha, 19 police personnel, five firefighters and three Home Guard & Civil Defence personnel will be honoured for their services.

As per the list issued by the Union Home Ministry, as many as 95 personnel of various central and state police forces will receive gallantry medals. Last year, 1,132 service medals – including 277 for gallantry – were awarded by the Centre.

As per the list, six police personnel will receive gallantry medals, while two will get President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and 11 will be honoured with Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).

Among firefighters from Odisha, one person will receive PSM award, while four will be honoured with MSM awards. In addition, three personnel from Home Guard & Civil Defence -- two for PSM and one for MSM -- will be honoured.
