Aska, Aug 1: Police on Friday seized 61 kilograms of ganja and arrested six persons, all residents of Kandhamal district, in connection with the case.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a private bus named Niranjan near Aska College Chhak. During inspection, the officials discovered bags filled with ganja, concealed among passenger luggage.

The bus was immediately seized and taken to Kotinada Police Station for further investigation.

Later, all six accused were taken into custody and produced in court.

Kandhamal district has long been under scrutiny for ganja cultivation and trafficking. Earlier this year, police had seized over 10.8 tonnes of ganja in a series of raids across the region.
