Singapore President’s Historic Visit To Odisha Marks New Era Of Development: CM Mohan Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Jan 18: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday said that Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s two-day visit to Odisha is a historic event and marks the foundation of establishing a “Viksit Odisha” (Developed Odisha) by 2036.

Briefing the media persons, the Chief Minister said that his government is giving priority to creating immense opportunities in the field of infrastructure development, investment and employment in the state.

“In the presence of the President of Singapore, as many as eight important agreements have been signed between the State government and Singapore,” CM Majhi said.

“Our government’s plan and programmes are now fully prepared for modern urban planning, establishment of new cities, development of modern sectors like semiconductor, petrochemical ‍ sector, green energy and skill development, which will accelerate the development of the State and help in forming a prosperous Odisha by 2036,” he added.

On Friday, the Odisha government signed eight MoUs with Singapore-based organisations for collaborations in different fields including skill development, green energy and industrial park development.

The MoUs were signed in the presence of President Shanmugaratnam, CM Mohan Charan Maji, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Deputy Chief Ministers - KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida - at World Skill Centre (WSC) here.

The MoU signing ceremony was followed by a bilateral discussion between the Singapore delegation led by President Shanmugaratnam and the Odisha government team headed by CM Majhi.

President Shanmugaratnam today visited the heritage village at Raghurajpur, Sun Temple in Konark and a vaccine manufacturing plant on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on the last day of his visit to Odisha.
