Baripada, Oct 15: The Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR), nestled in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, is set to welcome tourists again from October 18, officials said on Wednesday. The reserve had been closed since June 30 due to the monsoon, and its reopening is expected to boost eco-tourism in the region.
According to a notification issued by STR Field Director Prakash Chand Gogineni, the park will reopen for day tourism with strict guidelines in place. A maximum of 60 four-wheelers will be allowed entry per day — 35 vehicles through the Kalikaprasad gate in Jashipur and 25 vehicles via the Pithabata gate in Baripada.
Tourists must ensure their vehicles have a ground clearance
of at least 180mm, and all visitors are required to exit the reserve by 6 PM.
Entry permits can be obtained through the official website www.similipal.org,
and valid ID proof must be presented at the gate.
