Bhubaneswar, Aug 18: The racket operating SIM box seems to have spread its network to different cities in the State. Another SIM operation point has been traced in the millennium city Cuttack.
Meanwhile, the court granted Commissionerate police to take the main accused in SIM box recovery case of Bhubaneswar's Laxmi Sagar area, Raju Mandal, in a five-day remand for questioning.
"We had requested the court to take main accused in Laxmisagar SIM Box recovercy case in 14 days' remand. The court has allowed for a five-day remand," DCP Prateek Singh told a press conference here today.
He said the main focus of the investigatin would be to know the purpose the SIM box was being used and other people linked in the crime.
"We will investigation to know whether the SIM box was being used for committing cybercrime or terrorism or creating fake telephone exchange. We also want to know who others are involved in the SIM box operation," said the DCP.

✨He too stated that the police would share information with line agencies like NIA and Interpol to get more information about the SIM box operation, its purpose and miscreants involved.
Souces said a police team conducted a raid in Cuttack on an allegation of a SIM Card operation.
According to the police, miscreants were making cash transaction to operate SIM boxes to avoid evidence of digital transaction. Some Bangladesis people had allegedly come to the city to set up the SIM boxes.
