As per the letter, most shops are seen opened till 1 am resulting in general public gathering, raising concerns over potential law and order issues in the area. The decision has been taken in view of Balasore’s communal sensitivity.
To avoid such an untoward situation, the Balasore Police have been urged, through the letter, to enforce strict patrolling across the town and issue directives for all shops to close by 10 pm from October 6 to October 21, with exceptions only for emergency services.
In a bid to ensure strict enforcement of the measures aimed at maintaining law and order, Balasore Tahasildar and the Balasore Municipality Executive Officer have been directed to work in coordination.
The police, on the other hand, have already informed both
the public and shop owners about the new guidelines.
