Cuttack, Aug 17: In a shocking incident, a woman was reportedly killed by a foster son in Pancha Gaon village under Tigiria police station under Cuttack district last night. 

The deceased mother was identified as Alpana Das and the accused as Kartika Sethi. 

According to the information, Alpana had adopted Kartika as her son and brought up him accordingly.  

Last night, Alpana was sleeping in her house when Kartika slit her neck. As a result, she profusely bled and died. 

Though Kartika surrendered to the police, conceding to the crime, the reason behind the cruel incident is yet to be known.  

The police started an investigation into the incident after arresting the accused son.
