Borigumma (Koraput), Apr 4: In a shocking incident, a swarm of bees attacked devotees during the Thakurani festival in Kupia village, Borigumma Block in Koraput district, Odisha.

The festival, a major cultural and religious event, had drawn hundreds of devotees to witness the celebrations.

The bee attack occurred when a hive nestled in an old tree was disturbed amidst the festivities. The agitated bees swarmed the gathering, causing panic. People scrambled for safety, and eight individuals were left injured. Among them, two are reported to be in critical condition.

All the injured were immediately rushed to Borigumma Medical Centre for treatment. However, due to the severity of their condition, the two critically injured individuals have been transferred to Jeypore District Medical Centre for advanced medical care.
