Bhubaneswar, Apr 7: The State Government will restructure the existing Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across Odisha this month to strengthen women's empowerment at grassroot level.
"The State government has decided to reorganise SHGs under the Mission Shakti programme in the welfare of women. Every household will be added. There will be no party consideration. Women's empowerment will be ensured in a transparent manner," said Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida.
Digging at previous BJD government for not registering SHGs, Parida, who holds Women and Child Welfare portfolio, said every SHG will be registered.
"SHGs were not registered. Audit of accounts was not held. It indicates the intention of the previous government," Parida said, adding, "SHGs will be registered and audited regularly. Women of every household will be empowered."
