Bhubaneswar, Aug 8: The India Meteorological Department's regional centre has issued a yellow warning of heavy rainfall for several districts of Odisha over the next two days.
The alert comes amid continued monsoon activity across the state, with widespread showers already underway.
According to IMD's latest bulletin, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati are likely to witness heavy rainfall on August 8-9.
Light to moderate rainfall may continue in parts of the state even after August 9, said the weather agency.
Following the alert, the IMD has urged residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms.
