Bhubaneswar, Aug 5: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rainfall alert for several districts of the state till August 8.
A yellow warning has also been issued for 20 districts.
According to weather agency, the yellow alert has been issued for the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri, Khordha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, and Bhadrak.
These areas are expected to witness heavy downpours, lightning, and wind speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph, said the IMD.
Similar warnings have also been issued to districts in northern and western Odisha, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh, where inclement weather conditions are likely to persist. it added.
Following this, the IMD has advised people to stay indoors and take necessary precautions. Authorities in the affected districts have been asked to remain on alert and take preventive measures to mitigate potential damages.
