Paradip, Jul 14: A massive fire broke out at a vegetable market in Badapadia area in Paradip. Following the incident, seven shops were completely gutted, causing extensive damage to goods and property.

While the exact reason for the fire breakout is yet to be ascertained, initial reports suggest the fire might have originated in one shop and quickly engulfed adjacent ones.

Soon after the incident came to fore, fire fighters from Paradip Port and Kujang rushed to the scene around 3:00 AM, doused the flames that spread rapidly due to the market’s tightly packed layout.

Though the blaze was eventually brought under control, vegetables, furniture, and shop structures were reduced to ashes.

The market reportedly lacks proper electricity connections, raising suspicion that a mosquito coil or other flammable item may have triggered the blaze.
