Bhubaneswar, Sept 11: A series of collisions on the Palasuni bridge brought traffic to a grinding halt on NH‑16 in Bhubaneswar on Friday, leaving commuters stranded for hours.

According to police sources, a truck coming from Cuttack rammed into multiple vehicles, including an Innova and a Scorpio, crushing several cars in the pile‑up. The sudden collisions caused panic among motorists and paralyzed traffic movement along the busy corridor.

The impact of the crash led to a massive traffic jam stretching from Hansapal to Rasulgarh, with vehicles stuck bumper‑to‑bumper for hours. Eyewitnesses said the truck driver fled immediately after the accident, leaving behind chaos and damaged vehicles.

Local police and PCR teams launched rescue operations, working to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow. Traffic police were deployed to manage the crowd and ease congestion, though the sheer scale of the jam made movement difficult.
