Bhubaneswar, Apr 19: Senior journalist Ratikant Mohanty passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar this morning.

According to family sources, Mohanty was under treatment for a few days. He breathed his last early Saturday morning.

His family members and some journalists were present at his deathbed. Known as an amicable person, Mohanty groomed many journalists in his forty-year career. He worked with many regional and national dailies. He practised impartial journalism and was dedicated to the profession throughout his life.

With the demise of Mohanty, Odisha lost a great figure in the world of Odia journalism. Journalists and political leaders across party lines rushed to his residence in Kharvel Nagar to pay their last respects.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan expressed deep grief over Mohanty's passing away and condolences to the bereaved family.
