Puri, Aug 22: Security arrangements at the revered Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri have come under scrutiny once again after a man from Uttar Pradesh was caught attempting to climb the temple structure. The incident occurred near the Paschima Dwara, close to the Nrusingha Mandir, early Friday morning.
The accused, identified as Manoj Singh, a resident of Ajamgarh district, managed to ascend nearly five feet of the temple wall.
Upon being noticed, security personnel were alerted and the accused was immediately detained by Singhadwara Police.
This marks the second such incident in recent days, following the detention of a devotee from Ganjam district for a similar offence. These repeated breaches have sparked widespread concern over the effectiveness of current security protocols at the 12th-century shrine.
Authorities had previously installed barricades near sensitive zones such as the Ekadashi Mandir and Dakshini Ghara to prevent unauthorised access.
