Bhubaneswar, Jun 23: Bhubaneswar is set to become a hub of scientific innovation and learning as the Odisha government announces the establishment of a state-of-the-art Science City.
Odisha Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra revealed that Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the allocation of 100 acres of land for the ambitious project in the Chandaka area of the capital city.
The Science City aims to foster scientific curiosity among students and the general public, offering interactive exhibits, research facilities, and innovation showcases. “This initiative will empower students and citizens with access to cutting-edge scientific knowledge,” said Minister Patra.
Inspired by similar models in Kolkata and Hyderabad, the Bhubaneswar Science City will serve as a beacon for Odisha’s scientific aspirations.
In tandem with this, the state government has earmarked ₹1,113 crore over five years for the development of a mega biotechnology park.
With Odisha’s 480-kilometer coastline and rich biodiversity, including the Chilika Lake ecosystem, the region offers immense potential for biotech research and marine innovation. The park will attract industry leaders, researchers, and startups, creating a robust ecosystem for biotechnology in the state.
The Science City and biotech park are part of the broader “Bikashita Odisha 2036” vision, aiming to transform the state into a leader in science, technology, and innovation.
