Mayurbhanj, Sept 14: The district administration of Mayurbhanj have announced closure of all schools, Colleges and Anganwadi centres for today in view of the heavy rainfall forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD has issued a red alert for the district, warning of isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall and the possibility of extremely heavy falls exceeding 20 cm. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected in isolated areas of Mayurbhanj on Saturday.

The collector has directed to face a possible natural calamity and be prepared for all necessary action. All fire stations will be on standby to assist in rescue and evacuation operations. 

All BDOs, tahsildars, revenue inspectors and executive officers of urban local bodies have been put on alert.
