Ganjam, Apr 18: At least 12 students were injured after a school vehicle overturned at Chikiti in Ganjam district on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred when a Tata Magic van, belonging to Adarsha School, lost control over the wheels and overturned after hitting an electric pole.

According to reports, the vehicle was carrying 12 students from Chandpur area to Pitatal when the driver lost control.

The van rammed into the pole and overturned, causing panic among bystanders.

Following the incident, at least five students sustained injuries, along with the driver, who was reported to be in critical condition.

Local residents rushed to the spot and helped rescue the children trapped inside the overturned vehicle. The injured were immediately taken to Chikiti Medical College and Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Doctors later confirmed that the driver’s condition is critical, and the students are being closely monitored.

Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the accident and take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
