Mayurbhanj, Apr 2: A tragic incident occurred near Bhoanra village close to Karanjia in Mayurbhanj district in Odisha, where a school bus carrying students from Vivekananda Public School met with an accident, Wednesday.

The bus, en route from Chitrapasi village to the school, lost control and overturned on the roadside, causing panic among the students. Fortunately, all students onboard managed to survive with minor injuries.

Eyewitnesses alleged that the bus driver was under the influence of alcohol and was driving at an excessive speed, leading to the accident. The severity of the crash has raised serious concerns about student safety and reckless driving in school transport services.

According to sources, the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving behind the overturned vehicle and shaken students. The local police arrived promptly at the site and have seized the vehicle for further investigation.

Police are now searching for the absconding driver, while parents and residents demand stricter regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
