Sonepur, Jul 11: The husband of the Sarpanch of Gajabandh Panchayat was brutally murdered late last night near Kenpali under the jurisdiction of Rampur police station.

The deceased has been identified as Ballabh Kheti.

According to reports, Kheti was returning home when some unidentified assailants intercepted him and attacked with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured. Locals, discovered him in a pool of blood, and rushed him to the Dunguripali hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

While the exact motive behind the murder remains unclear, preliminary suspicions point toward possible revenge linked to past enmity.

Family members have alleged that the killing may have stemmed from longstanding disputes, though police have yet to confirm any leads.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
