Bhanjanagar, Dec 26: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday said the Saraswati Shishu Mandir has the magic of making good citizens for the country.

"Saraswati Shishu Mandirs don't impart quality education only but also make good citizens for the future of the country," Pradhan said while attending the Dhiapadal Saraswati Shishu Mandir at Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district today.

The Union Minister praised the performance of the Saraswati Shishu Mandir caused by Gurumas (Lady teachers of Saraswati Shishu Mandirs). He said Gurumas are making students of new generations. Pradhan said the efforts of the Bharatiya Siskha Bikash Samiti in school education are praiseworthy.

Stating that Odisha has 61,000 schools, including 1000 Saraswati Shish Mandirs, Pradhan said the Siksha Visash Samiti-run Saraswati Schools teach 5 percent of the State's total students in a given year. "3.70 lakh students are studying in 1000 schools in Saraswati Shishu Mandirs, while the number of school students in Odisha is 76 lakhs. This indicates Saraswati Shishu Mandir's quality education," he contended.

On the occasion, Pradhan inaugurated the new building of the school.

On his arrival, the Union Minister was accorded a grand welcome by locals, students and teachers.
