Deogarh, Nov 7: The Sansad Khel Mahotsav, a multi-day grassroots sports festival, was inaugurated today at Indira Gandhi Stadium in Deogarh by Vikas Foundation Chairperson Mridula Thakur Pradhan. The event aims to promote Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India and Khelo India initiatives by encouraging youth participation in sports and physical fitness, officials said.
Empowering Youth Through Sports
The Mahotsav, organized under the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, will span 19 days and cover blocks across Deogarh, Dhenkanal, and Angul districts. It is designed to foster physical and mental well-being among students and youth, aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy led by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mridula Thakur emphasized the
importance of sports in building confidence, discipline, and unity. BJP leader
Meenaketan Pradhan also attended the event, highlighting the role of local
leadership in promoting youth engagement.

The festival will be held across multiple blocks in Sambalpur and Dhenkanal parliamentary constituencies, including Angul, Dhenkanal, and Deogarh districts.
