Argus News - Sangram Keshari Senapati’s Odia Novel ‘Cigarette’ Launched in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Apr 13: Odisha’s literary landscape witnessed a special moment with the official launch of ‘Cigarette’, the first Odia novel penned by Sangram Keshari Senapati.

The book unveiling took place at the Buddha Temple in Bhubaneswar during the Bahi Bisuba literary event, organized by Timepass Publication.

The ceremony was graced by Sahitya Akademi award-winning poet Banshidhar Sarangi as the chief guest, alongside publisher Saroj Bal.

The novel, which explores a college love story and captures the emotions and complexities of contemporary youth relationships, had earlier earned recognition in Timepass Publication’s Prathama competition.

Selected among 12 winning entries, it was honoured with the prestigious Timepass Prathama Award.

Senapati, apart from being a novelist, is the founding editor of Shubhapallaba and a prolific contributor to Odia Wikipedia, with over 3,600 articles to his credit.

His active participation in national and international literary and Wikimedia events has further established him as a dynamic voice in modern Odia literature.

Notably, his debut English novel ‘The Year She Disappeared’, published by Shubhapallaba Publications, was launched just last week in both print and e-book formats.

Expressing gratitude, Senapati thanked the publisher and literary community, stating his hope that ‘Cigarette’ would resonate deeply with readers.

The novel is currently available at Timepass Book Café and on Amazon India, offering readers a fresh perspective on youthful love and modern relationships through the lens of Odia literature.
