Sambalpur, May 24 – Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the annual mango exhibition, Aamba Pasara, at Jail Chhak in Sambalpur on Friday. Organized by the district administration in collaboration with Odisha Rural Marketing Society (ORMAS), the event highlights the region’s flourishing mango trade and international export initiatives.

During the inauguration, Pradhan lauded the successful export of locally grown mango varieties—such as Amrapali, Mallika, Langda, and Baiganpalli—to global markets including Dubai and England. He commended the Odisha government's Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment Department for facilitating this venture, branding it a commendable step in strengthening the state’s agricultural economy.

Sambalpur, known for its rich agricultural heritage, has emerged as a key contributor to mango exports, especially from regions like Jujumura, Naktideul, and Jamankira. Local farmer producer organizations (FPOs) and mango cultivators have played a vital role in ensuring high-quality production, meeting international demand.

Beyond mangoes, the district administration is working on a broader initiative to support the cultivation and marketing of rice, chilies, fruits, vegetables, dairy, and livestock products. Pradhan emphasized the importance of such efforts, stating that strengthening rural economies requires a diversified focus on agricultural development.

As Odisha continues to expand its agricultural export footprint, events like Aamba Pasara showcase the state’s commitment to empowering farmers and boosting trade opportunities on a global scale.
