Sambalpur, Aug 10: A young woman reportedly jumped into the Mahanadi River from the Chaurapur Bridge in Sambalpur district on Sunday.

The woman has been identified as Pushpanjali Bag from Sunapali.

According to reports, the matter came to light after locals informed the Fire department about the incident, who then immediately reached the spot and launched a search operation. After an intense effort, the woman was successfully retrieved from the water and immediately admitted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

While the exact reason behind the drastic step of the woman remains unclear, police have initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Authorities are monitoring the condition of the victim closely. However, no official update has been released yet.
