Sambalpur, Jan 5: Two BJP workers were allegedly killed and two others sustained critical injuries after being run over by a truck on National Highway-53 at Katapali in Sambalpur late on Saturday night.

Family members of the deceased alleged that it was a planned murder. A truck was used to run over the car in which the two BJP workers were travelling, alleged family members.

The deceased have been identified as Devendra Nayak, president of BJP's Gosala Mandal, and Murali Chhuria, a BJP worker. The Sambalpur police have started an investigation after detaining the truck.

The two injured persons have been admitted to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Burla and a private hospital at Burla.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan met the bereaved family members and expressed condolences. Besides, the Union Minister went to the VIMSAR and the private hospital and met the injured persons.
