Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: The mortal remains of martyr Havildar Raj Kishore Munda from the 6th Battalion, Bihar Regiment, were ceremoniously brought to Odisha on Monday.

Hailing from Nuagaon village in Keonjhar district’s Sadar block, Raj Kishore Munda attained martyrdom on March 29 while serving in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

On Monday, after reaching Bhubaneswar, his mortal remains were honoured with state tributes by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Home Department Principal Secretary Satyabrata Sahu, Twin City (Bhubaneswar-Cuttack) Police Commissioner, DCP, and senior officials from the Bihar Regiment.

At the airport, Guard of Honour was presented by the Bihar Regiment and Odisha Police before the mortal remains were transported to the martyr's ancestral village in Keonjhar's Sadar block, Nuagaon.

Earlier on Sunday, CM Majhi had expressed grief over the passing of Havildar Raj Kishore Munda. "With deep sorrow, we mourn the loss of Havildar Raj Kishore Munda of 6th Battalion, Bihar Regiment, a proud son of #Odisha from #Keonjhar. He made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty at Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh," CM Majhi wrote in a post on his X account.


"His mortal remains will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport on 31st March at 7:50 AM. We shall honour him with full state respect. My heartfelt condolences to his family. His bravery and sacrifice for the nation will always be remembered," the post reads further.

Raj Kishore Munda's sacrifice has drawn tributes from across Odisha and the nation as people honour his dedication to duty and country.
