Odisha is making this happen with a new app called Odisha Yatri. This app is changing how people travel in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, by focusing on safety. Last month, during Road Safety Awareness Month, which had the theme "Come Home Safe," Odisha's Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, launched a new initiative called Odisha Yatri. This initiative is part of the state's efforts to improve safety for people traveling on the roads. It also aims to promote better, more eco-friendly ways of getting around. The launch of Odisha Yatri marked the beginning of a significant positive change in how people move around the state, with a focus on making travel safer and more sustainable.

Odisha Yatri is a travel service that focuses on keeping passengers safe and making their trips reliable. It has useful features like:

Real-time trip tracking: You can see where your ride is in real time.

• Live trip sharing: You can share your trip details with someone for extra safety.
• Emergency assistance: If something goes wrong, the service is connected directly to the Odisha Police (112 helpline) for quick help.

The drivers are carefully checked and trained regularly to ensure they follow safety rules, so you can trust them with your journey.

What makes Odisha Yatri different is its focus on fairness. Unlike regular ride-hailing apps that take a big cut of the fare, Odisha Yatri doesn’t take any commission. Drivers get to keep all of their earnings. This has helped drivers earn more money and has encouraged them to offer better service.

Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, the Minister for Housing and Urban Development,said that "Odisha Yatri"  app can change the way people move around cities.

• "Odisha Yatri is not just a mobility app" means it's more than just a tool to get rides, like an Uber or Ola. It's part of a bigger plan for improving how people travel in cities in Odisha (a state in India).

• "It embodies our vision for Viksit Odisha" means the app is part of a bigger goal to make Odisha a more developed and modern place, especially when it comes to transportation.

• "Creating safer, smarter, and inclusive urban transportation" means the app aims to make traveling in cities safer, more efficient, and available to everyone, no matter who they are or where they live.

• "Zero-commission model" means the app doesn't take a cut of the money that people pay for their rides, which could make it cheaper for passengers and more profitable for drivers.

• "Advanced safety features" means the app has special safety measures built in, likely to protect riders and drivers during their trips.

He further added that  this could really improve how people get around in Odisha’s cities, making it safer, smarter, and more affordable for everyone.

Passengers are getting the benefits of this new thought of the Government. The app’s user-friendly interface makes booking rides effortless, while the live trip-sharing feature offers peace of mind to loved ones waiting at home. Odisha Yatri is not just about getting starting to ending point but making the same through confidence and trust.
