Puri, Sep 7: On the auspicious occasion of Bhadrapada Purnima, the revered rituals of Indra Govinda Bandapana Niti and Indra Hati Prastaba were solemnly observed at the Jagannath Temple in Puri. These age-old customs, steeped in spiritual significance, were performed with grandeur and devotion.
The rituals commenced after the evening Arati, when Lord Dolagovinda was ceremoniously brought in a palanquin from the sacred banyan tree to the Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate). Upon arrival, the deity was offered Sheetal Bhoga (cooling food), followed by the symbolic Bandapana of Indra and Govinda, and the presentation of the majestic Indra Elephant proposal.
Following these rituals, the deities were escorted back to the sanctum in a procession known as Bahuda Vijay, marking the completion of the ceremonial journey.
