Bhubaneswar, Dec 15: In another threat to cyber safety, miscreants deceived Rs 1,35,000 by using a fake Facebook profile of a bureaucrat here.
Excise Commissioner Narasingha Bhol posted on his social media account about the scam. Fraudsters created a Facebook (FB) profile in the name of Bhol and messaged his acquitance and looted Rs 50,000 from him.

In this way, the scammers extracted hefty amounts of money amounting to Rs 1,35,000 from different persons.

"A fake FB profile in my name has been created and the looters are targeting people from my friends list. I request (everyone) to unfriend themselves and report the fake profile. Everything has been posted only in English in the fake id", read the post by Narasingha Bhol in Odia.
