The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across the state until May 18. Authorities have issued an Orange Alert as heavy rainfall is expected in Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam.


Additionally, strong winds reaching speeds of 50-60 km/h may impact several areas.


Meanwhile, districts including Nuapada, Kalahandi, Balangir, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj have been placed under a Yellow Warning, indicating potential thunderstorms and moderate showers. Additionally, heavy rainfall is anticipated in Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada on May 16.
